Digging into the Art Archives

I’m an artist.  It is a core part of my self identity.  Unfortunately, “real life” doesn’t tend to allow me much time to work on my art or build my portfolio. So I’ll be posting older pieces.

To start, here are some pieces from my student days.  These date back about 20-25 years, but they were all made by yours truly.  And, for some reason, I happen to have electronic copies of these, so here they are for your viewing pleasure.

“Runner” is from a Fashion Illustration class I took in high school.  You can tell I was a sci-fi / fantasy geek even then.

“At Breakfast” is also from my high school days.  I have always had a fascination with hands.  They are so expressive.  From an art / composition perspective I feel like they really draw a viewer into a piece.  I wish I had a better model than myself for this one – my hands are fat!

“Flute & Rose” was from a Design class in college.  To be honest, I still didn’t really understand design back then – but I think I did okay on this.  Mostly I think this piece is symbolic of me – expressing my love of both music and nature.

Looking back at these (really) old pieces is kind of funny to me.  They’re pretty decent pieces, but looking back I can tell that the artist that was me was just so young!

Stay tuned.  There will be more artwork to come!
